New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a 2012 side-scrolling platformer video game in the Super Mario series developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console. The game is a direct sequel to the 2006 Nintendo DS game New Super Mario Bros., and is the first Nintendo-published game to be released simultaneously in both digital and physical forms.
The game's plot is similar to its predecessors, focusing on Mario and Luigi's efforts to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser and the Koopalings. New Super Mario Bros. 2 has a heavier emphasis on coin-collecting than other Super Mario games, with multiple unique items dedicated to producing large numbers of coins. The game features a specialized mode called 'Coin Rush' that focuses exclusively on quickly completing a series of stages while collecting as many coins as possible. Additional Coin Rush stages were made available for purchase as downloadable content shortly after the game's release.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 spans 9 worlds consisting of 6 main worlds and 3 special worlds. Those worlds total 85 complete levels, many of which have multiple exits to unlock more areas of the game to play and explore.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 received generally positive reviews; critics generally praised the game's level design, but criticized the game for being too similar to earlier New Super Mario Bros. games. Show Me Your Moves

The original Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 markedthe first time that Pokémon made the jump from turn-based battles to real-timecombat, with Pikachu and Jigglypuff as the debut Pokémon contenders. The serieshas come a long way since then, with a wide assortment of fighters from the Pokémonuniverse appearing in Super Smash Bros.Ultimate. We'd like to believe that this Charizard merely decidedto disobey its Trainer for a little while, much like Ash's Charizard did in Pokémon the Series.

With such a wealth of playable Pokémon to choose from, you're bound to discover at least one that suits your fighting style.

Powerful Pokémon such asLucario and Greninja also return as fighters, as well as a feisty contender youmight not expect—Pichu. Not seen as a playable character since Super Smash Bros. Melee for NintendoGameCube, this adorable Pokémon battles in a manner similar to Pikachu, butwith a few key differences. Notably, Pichu's Electric-type attacks often dealmore damage, but they hurt Pichu with recoil! Don't underestimate it, though—afterall, what other Pokémon that small and cute can hold its own against aLegendary Pokémon like Mewtwo?

The newest Pokémonfighter to join the fray is none other than Incineroar, a close-range,heavyweight fighter who bears some similarities to the Masked Royal'sIncineroar from Pokémon the Series: Sun& Moon—Ultra Adventures (as seen in the episodes “Pushingthe Fiery Envelope!” and “AYoung Royal Flame Ignites!”). Incineroar unleashes ferocious attacks likeDarkest Lariat and Cross Chop, as well as Alolan Whip—a move exclusive to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate—which throws anopponent against a set of ring ropes.

Keeping with thewrestling theme, Pikachu Libre makes its SuperSmash Bros. debut as an alternate costume for Pikachu. Considering its rolein Pokkén Tournament DX, its inclusionin this fighting game seems like ano-brainer. With such a wealth of playable Pokémon to choose from, you're boundto discover at least one that suits your fighting style.


Get in the Spirit

A huge new feature in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate isspirits—game characters that can often be equipped before battle to augmentyour fighter's abilities. Pokémon has over 150 spirits featured in the game—morethan any other franchise in attendance. Many of those spirits take cues from thePokémon they represent. There's even a Slowpoke master spirit that uses Amnesiato “teach” other spirits how to forget previously learned traits.

Some spirits revealtheir full potential when they're enhanced at level 99. The Groudon spirit, forexample, can become Primal Groudon when it reaches that milestone. Other Pokémonspirits can change forms, Mega Evolve, and more!

To obtain most spirits,you must complete a challenge that's inspired in some way by the spirit onoffer, often under some especially creative battle conditions. For instance, tounlock the Detective Pikachu spirit, you'll need to do some detective work toidentify and defeat the correct Pikachu out of a team of four within the timelimit (of course, you can also obtain that particular spirit by scanning the comicallyoversized Detective Pikachu amiibo as well).

The sheer abundance of Pokémonspirits to collect is itself an embodiment of what Pokémon is all about, and it'sthis level of dedication that Super SmashBros. Ultimate excels at.


It's All about the Details

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is also brimming with Pokémon referencesand creative homages. For example, the single-player story mode, World ofLight, is full of exciting Pokémon surprises. Most of the time, you'll movearound the overworld map on foot, but you might also get the chance to cross asea upon the back of a Lapras. In the game's Classic Mode, each fighter followstheir own path to face off against a unique sequence of opponents, and Pikachu'sroute is a prime example of one that provides a distinctly Pokémon experience. Inthe aptly titled “I Choose You!” route, you'll duke it out with each of theother Pokémon fighters on battlefields well suited to them.

Many of the Pokémon levels available are loaded with Pokémon, and keen-eyed players might even catch some rare cameos.

Although Super Smash Bros. Ultimate doesn'tintroduce any new Pokémon stages, nearly every arena in series history iswithin reach. Be sure to check out treacherous locales like Saffron City and theUnova Pokémon League, where Pokémon do their best to cause chaos. In SaffronCity, for example, you'll want to be wary of mischievous Pokémon like Electrode,who seems to appear when you least expect it to use its Explosion attack. Some stagessuch as the Kalos Pokémon League also feature Pokémon spectators that are justas content to observe the battle. Many of the Pokémon levels available are loadedwith Pokémon, and keen-eyed players might even catch some rare cameos.

It wouldn't be Super Smash Bros. without the iconicPoké Balls and Master Balls that players can use to summon Pokémon allies.Pokémon originally discovered in the Alola region as well as Alolan regionalvariant Pokémon are making their debut this time around. One of our favoritesis Alolan Exeggutor, which, seemingly oblivious to the conflict at hand,divides the stage with its ultralong neck. Also, be on the lookout for LegendaryPokémon like Solgaleo, which darts around the stage with its Sunsteel Strike,and Lunala, which fires its Moongeist Beam at competitors from the background.

True to its title, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is an ultimate tribute to Pokémon.
